What is the difference between AlphaRet Overnight Cream and Intensive AlphaRet Overnight Cream?
• AlphaRet Overnight Cream contains glycolic acid designed to target moderate sun damage and uneven texture. Intensive AlphaRet Overnight Cream contains a higher concentration of glycolic acid to enhance retexturization results. To determine which option is best for your skin type, we recommend consulting your healthcare professional.
What ingredients make up the hydrating blend?
• The hydrating blend includes:
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) to help improve moisture
Squalane (lipid sourced from olives) to help provide moisture and suppleness
Ceramide NP to support a healthy skin barrier and skin hydration
Hyaluronic Acid to help retain water in the skin (known to hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water)
Linoleic and Linolenic Acid (Vitamin F complex) to support healthy-looking skin

Do you recommend stopping this product prior to waxing or chemical peels? How many days prior?
• Due to the retinoid contained in AlphaRet Overnight Cream and Intensive AlphaRet Overnight Cream, we recommend following general standard-of-care guidelines for retinoid use before facial waxing or peels. Many clinicians stop using a retinoid 5–7 days prior to the procedure. We recommend patients consult a healthcare professional, as guidelines may vary by procedure.
Is it normal to experience breakouts when using this product?
• Breakouts may occur initially when using AlphaRet Overnight Cream or Intensive AlphaRet Overnight Cream, even if you have used a retinoid-based product before. Using a retinoid accelerates turnover and exfoliation of the skin and may encourage the initial purging of clogged pores. With continued use, breakouts typically subside within a week or two. If breakouts persist, consider whether any new products were introduced recently and consult your healthcare professional.
Can I use Alto Defense Serum with AlphaRet Overnight Cream? Can a retinoid and vitamin C be used at the same time?
• There is a misconception that you cannot use a retinoid and vitamin C together due to pH differences and potential irritation, which is largely based on ascorbic acid (a water-soluble form of vitamin C). AlphaRet Overnight Cream and Alto Defense Serum contain a lipid-soluble (“skin friendly”), stable form of vitamin C, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate.
Additionally, we have studied the use of Alto Defense Serum with AlphaRet Overnight Cream following two microneedling treatments. Alto Defense Serum was applied immediately following each microneedling treatment, and patients were instructed to incorporate it in the evening following the procedure and every AM/PM. Patients were instructed to apply AlphaRet Overnight Cream in the evening 24 hours following the procedure.
How does AlphaRet Overnight Cream compare to Retin-A?
• In a 12-week clinical study comparing AlphaRet Overnight Cream to 1.0% retinol and 0.025% tretinoin, AlphaRet Overnight Cream was the only product that achieved statistically significant improvements in skin hydration at each time point throughout the 12-week study. AlphaRet Overnight Cream outperformed retinol by significantly reducing the appearance of redness and significantly improving the look of pores at 12 weeks. AlphaRet Overnight Cream was comparable to tretinoin in the improvement of the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles, skin tone, redness, and pigmentation. In addition, patients reported a higher level of tolerability with AlphaRet Overnight Cream in comparison to the retinol and tretinoin products.
Do I need to use a moisturizer with this product?
• AlphaRet Overnight Cream and Intensive AlphaRet Overnight Cream are not moisturizers and will not replace the use of a daily moisturizer. For those with combination or oily skin, a separate moisturizer may not be necessary. For drier skin that needs more moisture, we recommend a separate moisturizer following AlphaRet Overnight Cream.
Can this product be used on the neck, décolleté, or chest?
• The tolerability and efficacy of nightly application of AlphaRet Overnight Cream and twice-daily application of Techno Neck Perfecting Cream were evaluated in a small group of patients over 12 weeks. Patients reported high levels of tolerability in the neck/décolleté/chest throughout the study.
